Russell Millworks Warranty

General Warranty

Russell Millworks warrants that its glass product line shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of FIVE (5) YEARS from the date of delivery to the original buyer, to the point of original delivery. This limited warranty will replace any defective insulated unit or sash containing an insulated unit which has failed due to internal leakage, water infiltration, or fogging due to any defect in our material and/or workmanship. It will exclude failure due to glass breakage. Any products determined by Russell Millworks to contain defects in material or workmanship, Russell Millworks will, at its option, repair the products or parts at no charge, or provide replacements at no
charge, or refund the original purchase price of the products containing the defective parts. Decisions as to whether to repair, replace, or refund shall be made by Russell Millworks, in its sole discretion. To gain full credit on replacement glass or sash, the original glass or sash must be delivered unbroken to Russell Millworks within thirty (30) days of the date of such replacement unit.

For wood windows and doors, the period of time during which Russell Millworks will repair or replace at no charge shall be ONE (1) YEAR from the date of delivery to the original buyer to the point of original delivery. This limited warranty will replace any defective wood window or door which has failed due to material or workmanship. Russell Millworks will not be liable for any cost associated with the removal, installation, or refinishing of any replacement unit.

This limited warranty on window units will not be valid if they have not been immediately caulked and sealed with appropriate oil or water based sealer/paint before exposure to moisture. [No less than two (2) coats] This limited warranty on doors will not be valid if they have not been sealed on all six (6) sides with appropriate oil or water based sealer/paint. (Top edge and bottom edge must be sealed with an oil base sealer immediately when delivered to job site.) [No less than two (2) coats]

This limited warranty will not be valid if the paint or stain finish is not maintained based on the exposure a door or window has to the elements (IE: Sun, Rain, Salt Air, Etc…). Example in some instances refinishing of the product may be required every year, every six months, or even every 3 months depending on the finish applied to the surface and exposure.

Replacement parts will be the closest equivalent current product and may not exactly match the original. Replacements will be delivered to the original point of purchase, with no shipping charges. If shipment direct to the consumer is requested, normal shipping and handling charges will apply. In cases relating to hardware, the consumer will be invoiced for the replacement hardware at the list price and appropriate credit will be issued when the defective hardware has been returned to Russell Millworks.

Supplying replacement units, components or parts shall not extend the time period of the warranty and the replacement unit, component or part shall be warranted only to the extent of the unexpired portion of the warranty period on the originally purchased unit, component or part.

The warranty applies only to the original owner of the structure into which the product is installed and is nontransferable.

Specific Limitations

Instructions. This warranty applies only to products finished, installed and operated in accordance with Russell Millworks instructions.

Misuse, Abuse, Etc. This Limited Warranty does not cover any product that has been abused, misused, altered or used for a purpose other than that for which it was intended or in a manner inconsistent with any instructions regarding its use. This warranty does not cover glass breakage or slight glass curvature; minor scratches or other imperfections in the glass that do not impair structural integrity or significantly obscure normal vision, or any failures or operating difficulties in the glass, wood or vinyl components or cladding due to accident, misapplication, faulty building construction or design, exposure to the elements, improper or insufficient handling, storage, installation, maintenance or service, or nonstandard installations, including but not limited to, installation in a non-vertical, upside down, on-the-side, or out-of-square position. Also excluded from this warranty are failures or operating difficulties due to exposure to corrosive fumes or condensates, stress from movement of the structure, use of night insulation or films and coatings on the product, or use in swimming pool or other high humidity areas without adequate ventilation or humidity control.

Weathering, normal wear, and discoloration of sills or hinges, including the tarnishing of brass is normal and does not indicate a product defect and therefore is not covered by this warranty.

Installation, Etc. Russell Millworks will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for installation, repainting, refinishing or other similar activities necessary to complete any replacement. It will be the consumer is responsibility for installation, repainting, refinishing or other similar activities necessary to complete any replacement.

Proof of Purchase. Russell Millworks may require proof of the date of purchase of any product, so you should retain your sales slip or invoice.

Condensation. Condensation on windows and any related water damage, which occurs as the natural result of humidity within the property or changes in interior/exterior temperatures, does not indicate a defect and is not covered by this warranty.

Variance in Coloration. Variance in the coloration and grain of natural wood parts of Russell Millworks products does not indicate a defect and is not covered by this warranty.

Doors. There will be no warranty against warpage of an eight-foot tall or taller door unless Russell Millworks multi-point lock system is ordered for the eight-foot tall or taller door. Warping shall not be considered a defect unless it exceed in the plane of the door itself, and does not refer to the relation of the door to the frame or jamb in which it is hung. In measuring the amount of warpage present in a door, the following method shall be used. Place a straightedge, taut wire or string on the suspected concave face of the door at any angle which could be horizontal, vertical or diagonal, with the door in its installed position. The measurement of the warpage shall be made at the point of maximum distance between the bottom of the straightedge, taut wire or string and the fact of the door. Action on any claim for warpage may be deferred, at Russell Millworks option, for a period not to exceed twelve (12) months from the date of the claim at which time the claim would be reevaluated. If a door has been installed prior to such claim being made, the door must remain hung in the original installation during the period of deferment, to permit conditioning to humidity and temperature.

Door Raised or Flat Panels,  are engineered with a plywood core (Split though proof panel). Wood being wood expansion and contraction will occur thus may cause small crack lines along the veneer glue lines. This is not a failure of the panel and is the responsibility of the builder or owner to refinish with proper fillers and finishes at their expense.

Doors & Windows.

NO WARRANTY on doors which have two (2) panels or less or that the panels are over 4 ½ sq ft in size
NO WARRANTY on doors which have less than (2) panels wide
NO WARRANTY on doors over 3′-4″ wide, or 8′-0″ tall
NO WARRANTY on 1.75″ thick doors over 7-6 tall
NO WARRANTY on doors with less than 4.25″  stiles and 8” bottom rail

NO WARRANTY on doors where failure to provide an adequate overhang Southern Zone Depth of Overhang = Height of door

NO WARRANTY on door where damage is caused by extreme temperature buildup where storm doors are present

NO WARRANTY on doors painted or stained a dark color that you cannot hold your hand on for 30 seconds

PVC Window Products. Expanded PVC, 706-White
Never rots.
Resists mildew and fungus.
Will not absorb moisture over .04% in weight vs. pine 74.6% absorption in weight.
Carries a U.L. ñ VO-94 fire rating for vertical burn test. Rating is well below Red Oak.
R-value is far greater than pine with a rating of 2.1/”î vs. Pine .99/1″
Smoke contribution. Again well below Red Oak.
Tested in temperature ranges of ñ20 F to 140 F. The expansion/contraction rate is .19% vs. Rigid PVC at 3.7%
Color fade better than ASTM standard of 500 hrs QUV.
Degradation of expanded PVC. Term of 25 yrs., unless exposed to gasoline or chemicals such as M.E.K.
Salt water testing warranty – 1000 hrs.

Product must be painted to validate warranty.

Code Compliant

1. It is the sole responsibility of the architect, building contractor or homeowner to select Russell Millworks products that comply with applicable building codes and ordinances. Russell Millworks shall not be held responsible for such compliance.

General Provisions

THERE ARE NO OTHER WARRANTIES EXCEPT AS SET FORTH HEREIN. ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE PERIOD OF COVERAGE OF THESE EXPRESS WRITTEN WARRANTIES. RUSSELL MILLWORKS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR APPLICABLE TAXES OR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGE OR LOSS TO PERSONS OR OTHER PROPERTY. Some states do not allow limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts, and some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. These warranties give you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. NO DISTRIBUTOR, SALESPERSON, DEALER, RETAILER OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVE OF RUSSELL MILLWORKS HAS THE AUTHORITY TO MAKE WARRANTIES OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR TO ALTER OR CHANGE THESE WARRANTIES EITHER ORALLY OR IN WRITING.
